Ingrown Toe Nails

Ingrown toe nails is a common problem in children because of the way they cut their nails and the amount of activity they do without shoes. In addition, since children grow so fast, their shoes don’t fit them well for very long. They are either too big and their toes grip to hold on creating pressure at the corners of the nail or they are too small, and push the skin into the nails creating an ingrown toenail.

How can Healthy Steps Podiatry help you?

  1. We can teach you how to maintain and cut the nails properly
  2. We can remove the ingrown nail and tidy the area where the problem is.
  3. We can assess their footwear and teach you the best way to fit their shoes.
  4. If necessary we can perform a surgery under local anaesthetic which prevents the part of the nail that grows in to be removed permanently. This is an easy procedure and involves a quick recovery
