As we age, so do our feet. Common foot problems can include impaired circulation (hot feet, cold feet) muscle weakness, pain from bunions, hammer toes, nail problems and issues with balance and gait. It is important that you know how to best look after your feet as you grow older, and get them regulary checked. After all, you will be relying on them to support you in the activities you enjoy. Don't let foot pain limit you in the things you love.
Some tips for maintaining healthy older feet
Don't ignore foot pain. Get it checked.
Make sure that you are wearing well fitting shoes that are comfortable and supportive. Check the fitting of your shoes often. Your feet may increase in size as you get older. Check the length and the width of your shoes.
Put your feet up and give them a rest every so often to help with circulation
Keep your feet moisturised and your nails properly cut.
Keep active as much as possible.
