Verruca Treatments
Verrucas are warts that appear on the skin of the foot. On the bottom of the feet they tend to be hard and flat, on the top and the toes they are generally fleshier. The virus that causes verrucas thrives in warm, moist environments and left untreated they can grow up to 3cm in diameter. Children are more likely than adults to contract verrucas and they are easily spread in places such as showers, around swimming pools and in changing rooms. Treatment depends on your age, the severity of the verruca and where it is on your foot. For all patients with verrucas a topical chemical treatment is often best. This can require several follow-up treatments. Surgery is a last option to remove the verruca completely in one go, but this will require a local anaesthetic and will take between two and four weeks to heal.
